Postpartum Training Done!

I completed my DONA postpartum doula training course on Wednesday. I got lots out of it, at least in connecting to the women in the class. They were wonderful, a real treat for me. It was almost like a retreat or vacation for me. I felt so relaxed and happy to be there doing something for me. Did I learn anything? Not really. It affirmed for me that I do know what I'm doing, and know what I should be doing as a postpartum doula. I'm not sure how much PP work I'll be doing anytime soon, but that's okay. I have four years to complete the certification now. One step closer! Yeah me!

Meeting with Barb Lucke...

One of the authors of Mother Rising: The Blessingway Journey to Motherhood (Barb Lucke) came and visited me today. She and her family came from the other side of the US and are spending about six weeks driving around Canada and the US. She stopped by to meet me, and I played tour guide around the inner harbour this afternoon. She has a lovely family and I had a great time showing them around. She's pretty pleased with the edits when her book was picked up by Celestial Press (she and her two co-authors had previously self-published the book - which sold out) - and they even sent me a complementary copy just because they like me. :) She signed both of my copies for me, and I left them at the RBCM and the IMAX. They catch the 7:30pm sailing to Port Angeles with plans to go down the Oregon coast. I hope they have a great trip. Very nice people! And a very inspiring book, which I highly recommend to all doulas, midwives and mothers.
